A girl without magic, Shirayuki Lindblum, had joined the military to avenge her murdered mother. One day, a mysterious letter arrives for her. Along with information claiming to know the identity of her mother’s killer, the letter contains an invitation to enroll at 'Iris Academy' in Hinomoto. After much deliberation, Shirayuki decides to enroll at Iris Academy in order to learn the truth and avenge her mother.
Meanwhile, a girl with extraordinary magical power, Yozuru Kurobane, bears the burden of having caused a tragedy by losing control of her magic in her hometown a few years ago. She enrolls at Iris Academy to learn how to control her powers and to secure her future as an agent.
